Why redact images in your browser?

Redacting an image of an ID card, a credit card or a screenshot full of personal details means handing over the very thing you're trying to protect. Just Tool It draws the image onto an HTML5 Canvas inside this tab. The redacted regions are painted over the source pixels and the exported file is a brand-new image — nothing ever travels over the wire.

How to redact an image (step-by-step)

  1. Drop your image onto the upload area, or click to browse.
  2. Pick a style — Blur, Pixelate, or Solid black. Adjust the strength.
  3. Drag across each sensitive area. Repeat for as many regions as you need.
  4. Click Download redacted to save a flat image with all redactions baked in.

Use Undo to remove the last region, or Reset to start over.

Frequently asked questions

Is the original image modified?
No. The original file on disk is never touched. Just Tool It loads it into memory, paints the redactions on a canvas copy, and offers the result as a download.
Can someone reverse the blur or pixelation?
The export is a flat raster image — no layers, no hidden data. The underlying pixels in each redacted region have been replaced. A heavy enough blur or pixelate setting cannot be reliably reversed; for maximum certainty, use Solid black.
Are my images uploaded?
No. All drawing and the final export happen with the HTML5 Canvas API in this tab. You can verify by opening your browser's developer tools and watching the Network panel — no requests are made while you redact.
