Why merge PDFs in your browser?
A merged PDF often contains exactly the kind of material you'd rather not hand over — contracts, scanned
IDs, financial statements, internal reports. Server-side mergers upload all of it. Just Tool It doesn't. The
pages you pick are stitched together using a small JavaScript library (pdf-lib) that runs
entirely inside this tab. When you close the tab, the file is gone.
How to merge PDFs (step-by-step)
- Add your PDFs. Drop them onto the upload area or click to browse.
- Set the order. Drag each row in the file list up or down. The order in the list is the order in the merged file.
- Remove anything you don't need. Click the × next to a file to drop it.
- Click Merge & download. A single combined PDF is generated locally and saved to your downloads folder.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Just Tool It reads files with the browser File API and merges them using a small JavaScript library
inside this tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or transmitted to any backend — there isn't one. You can
confirm by opening your browser's developer tools, watching the Network panel, and pressing
Merge & download: no requests will leave the page.
Is there a limit on file size or number of PDFs?
There's no fixed limit imposed by Just Tool It. The practical limit is your device's RAM, since all PDFs
are loaded into memory. Most modern laptops can comfortably merge dozens of multi-megabyte PDFs. Very
large books (hundreds of MB each) may need a desktop machine.
Does the merged PDF preserve bookmarks, links and metadata?
Pages and their visual content are preserved. Form fields and some interactive elements may be flattened.
The output is a brand new PDF document containing the source pages in the order you chose.
