Why convert HEIC offline in the browser?
iPhone photos often ship as HEIC/HEIF — great for storage, awkward for Windows apps, CMS uploads, and older email clients. Online converters force you to upload personal photos (faces, locations, home interiors) to a third-party host. Just Tool It decodes HEIC and re-encodes with the Canvas API entirely on-device. Batch a whole Camera Roll export, pick JPG/PNG/WebP and quality, then download files or a ZIP. Zero-server processing means your library never hits our network.
How to convert HEIC to JPG (step-by-step)
- Drop one or more .heic / .heif files onto the dropzone.
- Choose output format (JPG, PNG, or WebP) and quality if applicable.
- Start conversion — decoding and re-encoding run in this tab.
- Download each image or grab a ZIP of the batch.
Frequently asked questions
Do my iPhone photos leave my computer?
No. Conversion runs in the browser. HEIC bytes are decoded locally and never uploaded to Just Tool It for
processing.
Does conversion keep EXIF / location data?
Re-encoding via canvas typically produces a clean image without the original EXIF block. That is often
desirable for privacy. If you need metadata preserved, keep the original HEIC alongside the export.
Can I convert many HEIC files at once?
Yes — batch mode is supported. Very large batches are limited by device memory; convert in groups if the
tab becomes slow.
HEIC won’t open — what browsers work?
Modern Chromium, Firefox, and Safari builds are supported depending on codec availability. If a file
fails, try another browser or update your OS image codecs.
