Why extract text from images privately?

Screenshots of dashboards, whiteboards, receipts, and documents often contain secrets or personal data. Cloud OCR APIs monetize that content. Just Tool It runs Tesseract.js in WebAssembly inside your tab: drop an image, recognize text, copy the result. First run may fetch language data; your pixels stay local.

How to convert image to text

  1. Drop a clear photo or screenshot (PNG/JPG/WebP).
  2. Pick the OCR language if prompted.
  3. Run recognition and wait for the text output.
  4. Copy or download the text; delete the source image from downloads if needed.

Frequently asked questions

Tips for better OCR accuracy?
Use high contrast, straighten the page, avoid blur, and crop to the text region. 300 DPI equivalent captures work best.
Is the image uploaded?
No. Recognition runs locally after optional language-pack download.
Can it read handwriting?
Printed text is the sweet spot. Casual handwriting is unreliable with classic Tesseract engines.
Multi-page documents?
Use PDF OCR for multi-page scans. This tool targets single images and screenshots.
